She's cramming for exams while working at the local hospital alongside her sweetheart, Dr Ryan McCarthy (Tom Welling). We know something is wrong from the kick-off, as the prologue has another guy walking into the hospital carrying a bunch of flowers. His voice-over is about a really hard decision he has to make.
